KOHIYAMA Rui is Professor of Contemporary Culture at Tokyo Women’s University. She received her Ph.D. from International Christian University. She specializes in American women’s history, gender studies and Japan-U.S. Relations. She is currently researching on overseas missionaries’ interdenominational cooperation among American women missionaries in the early 20th century, and the decline of missionary work in the United States. Her publications include: (1) Amerika Fujin Senkyoshi Rainichi no Haikei to sono Eikyo (American Women Missionaries Their Travel to Japan and Their Influences) (1992); (2) Kekkon no Hikaku Bunka (A Comparative Study of the Culture of Marriage) (co-author, 2001); (3) A New Introduction to American Studies (co-author, 2004). | |||
