Alys Eve Weinbaum is Associate Professor of English and a member of the graduate faculty in the Program in Criticism and Theory at the University of Washington, Seattle. She received her Ph.D in English from Columbia University. She is the author of Wayward Reproductions: Genealogies of Race and Nation in Transatlantic Modern Thought (Duke University Press, 2004), and co-editor with Susan Gillman of W. E. B. Du Bois and the Gender of the Color Line (University of Minnesota Press, forthcoming) an anthology of feminist writings on the African American scholar and activist and on critical race theory. She is currently at work on two research projects: The Modern Girl and Racial Masquerade, and Theorizing Reproductive Labor in Transnationalism. She has published articles on the gender politics of modernity’s optics, the new feminist internationalism, and nineteenth and twentieth century cultures and politics of reproduction.
