Project A's general rationale is to investigate the conditions and public policies necessary for creating a society in which both gender equality and cultural diversity are valued. Although its immediate concern lies in the making of such a society in Japan, it seeks to do so in the context of Asia through a political process of creating and enhancing networks with gender scholars in this region as well as in other parts of the world.
